Former Blackpool defender Peter Clarke says Jordan Rhodes will be an asset to whichever club he is playing for next season.

The 34-year-old spent the last campaign on loan with the Seasiders from Huddersfield Town, and scored 15 goals for Neil Critchley’s side. He has previously admitted he would be interested in returning to Bloomfield Road with his contract with the Terriers expiring this summer, but his future still remains unclear.

Clarke was a teammate of Rhodes at the John Smith’s Stadium when the West Yorkshire club won promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs in 2012, with the striker finding the back of the net 39 times in all competition throughout that season.

"Jordan is a fantastic goal scorer, he’s an individual that needs very little opportunity to score," said the Warrington Town centre back.

"Throughout the course of Huddersfield’s promotion season, his numbers were incredible- he’s carried that on throughout his career. During his loan spell with Blackpool, he was still getting in the same positions and doing what he does.

"Goal scorers know where the goal is, that never changes. He knows where to be to get goals. He needs to rely on a certain amount of service for those opportunities, but once they arise, there’s not many that have got the ability and longevity that Jordan has.

"I’ve got no doubt that he’d be an asset to any club that wants to sign him. Whether that’s Blackpool or not, I don’t know, you’ll have to knock on Critchley’s door to find that out.”
